The road is about 500 kilometers from Luxor, and usually passes through the stunning landscapes of the Egyptian desert.

Travel to Abu Simbel:

It is considered one of the magnificent and beautiful monuments built by the most powerful pharaoh in the history of Egypt, Ramses II.

Arrival to Abu Simbel:

Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the famous Abu Simbel temples, which were built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC.

The two main temples, the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Small Temple of Hathor and Nefertari, are carved into the mountainside and are famous for their colossal statues and intricate hieroglyphic writings.

Abu Simbel has two temples. The Great Temple of Ramses II, and a smaller temple for his wife Nefertari.

The two temples are carved deep into the rock.

The Great Temple is dedicated to Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Ptah and Ramesses II as gods.

While the Smaller Temple is dedicated to Hathor and Nefertari as goddesses.

The Great Temple of Ramesses is the most powerful work of art in the world, with its massive façade featuring four magnificent statues of Ramesses.

It can be reached by plane or road. It takes about 45 minutes by plane and about three hours by road.

The police parade has been cancelled and you can drive to Abu Simbel from Aswan between sunrise and sunset every day.

The temple was built at some angles to allow the sun to illuminate the face of Ramesses II twice a year, on his birthday (October 21) and his coronation day (February 21). But the dates have now been changed to February 22 and October 22, due to the movement of the temple.

The Abu Simbel temples were the first of the 24 temples to be saved, due to water damage. The rescue operation began in 1960 and was completed in the spring of 1964.

Note: On the way back to Luxor you will take the train due to new road ru
