Tour Plan

day 1 Egyptian Museum, Saladin Citadel And Khan El Khalili

Our driver/representative will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan on Aswan Daily Tours, and take you to the airport, for a one-hour journey to Cairo. A happy tour guide will be waiting for you outside the arrivals terminal with your name on it to start your tour:

The Egyptian Museum: The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is one of the largest museums in the world. It has over 120,000 artifacts on display, the rest in storage. The museum consists of two main floors, the ground floor and the first floor. On the ground floor, there are some coins and papyrus. There are also some artifacts from the New Kingdom. These include statues and tables.

On the first floor, there are some artifacts from the 29th and 30th dynasties, with some pieces from the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, especially the amazing treasure of King Tutankhamun.

There are two special rooms containing a number of mummies.

Note: The mummies room has a special ticket.

The Saladin Citadel: The Saladin Citadel is the most visited Islamic site in Cairo. The Citadel was built during the reign of Saladin in Egypt (1176-1183). Its main purpose was to defend Cairo, so it was built in a very strategic location.

During the 19th century, Muhammad Ali built his famous mosque there, which is known as the Muhammad Ali Mosque.

Khan El Khalili: Khan El Khalili is the largest market and bazaar in the Middle East. It represents the market tradition that established Cairo as a major commercial center. The Khan was located in the center of Cairo, and some commercial establishments were built near it.

There is a large selection of shops, workshops and cafes.

Lunch: Enjoy a delicious Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste traditional dishes such as koshari, falafel or grilled kebab.

day 2 Giza Pyramids, And Saqqara

Breakfast at the hotel and start the tour:

Giza Pyramids and Sphinx: The Giza Plateau is located in the vast desert, the land of the dead. The plateau is guarded by the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, and is dominated by the colossal pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. To the south of the Great Sphinx lies the cemetery and city of the pyramid builders.

The pyramids are indeed amazing engineering achievements. But the question is…

Why were the pyramids built?

The pyramids were built in the Fourth Dynasty, but Giza remained important during the New Kingdom and the Third Intermediate Period.

There are many theories about the techniques of building the pyramids.

Notes: Entrance tickets to the pyramids are not included in the price.

Saqqara: Saqqara is located on the west bank of the Nile. It is a very large necropolis, which served as the cemetery of Memphis, the first capital of Egypt. It includes the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser and some other mastabas.

The Step Pyramid complex is considered the oldest stone structure in history.

Some of the pyramids at Saqqara were built by the kings of the 5th and 6th dynasties, such as Userkaf, Unas, Pepi I, and Pepi II.

Some private tombs of the Old Kingdom were built there. The most famous ones are the tombs of Tiye, Kagemni, Ptahhotep, and Meroruka. Learn more about these with our Cairo sightseeing.

Lunch: Enjoy a delicious Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant.

Finally, head back to Cairo Airport for your flight to Aswan, and your day ends with a transfer to your hotel.
